It will work in the future

The city administration recently opened two more busway corridors, bringing to three the number of corridors in the capital, yet many residents remain skeptical about the busway's role in a future integrated public transportation system. The Jakarta Post asked residents for their thoughts on the busway. Paulus Pandiangan, 37, is a manager at a housing developer in Tangerang. He lives with his family in West Jakarta: I think the busway operator must stay true to its main goals; reducing traffic congestion in Jakarta and providing improved public transportation for residents. But only three months after the launch of the first corridor, linking Blok M and Kota, I could already see the buses were being poorly maintained. For example, the air conditioners were not working properly. Personally, I was glad to see two more corridors were opened because it gives people more of a choice.
